Speaking of The Spatulas I Sell…

Speaking of The Spatulas I Sell…

My friend Elizabeth blogs about immigrants that walk through their 38,000 acre ranch in Starr County. She contends she is a housewife just observing life, but her commentary and videos are always capture the stark danger and deep despair in which these "pilgrims" travel.

She shops at my store, and bought an orange spatula one day. I assumed she was going to whip up some cupcakes, but she clipped her lavolier microphone on it to interview the people crossing their property.

The man in the baseball cap is explaining that he was kidnapped in Mexico for $3,500.00 US. The human traffickers intercept immigrants, hold them for ransom, and then release them on the US side once they are paid. Many of his friends were still be held hostage.

I wonder how many nationalities have held that spatula.
