Fried Plantains Recipe

If you are unfamiliar with plantains, you need to know that they are considered ripe when they are completely black. They shouldn't be moldy or shriveled. They are not as soft as regular bananas, but they should not be so hard that they seem challenging to chew.

  • 1 plantain per person
  • oil for frying, about 1 cup

Heat oil in a frying pan. Peel plantain, and slice in diagonal rounds, so they look like ovals from the top. Fry sliced bananas, turning once, until slightly browned on each side. Serve immediately.
